Get started with Eventually

Create and publish your first event from a setup drawer on your dashboard, then brand and share your calendar widget or event link without leaving the app shell. Connecting Squarespace for checkout is optional until you sell paid tickets.

First-run setup on the dashboard

On a first-run account, setup opens as a bordered drawer on the dashboard. The normal sidebar stays available through describe, review, brand, and share. The drawer dims the rest of the dashboard while it is open. First-run create paths open that drawer in place instead of separate full-page onboarding screens.

The drawer header tracks three steps:

  • Describe your event

  • Make it yours

  • Share with your audience

Collapse the drawer with Collapse setup to return to the compact panel titled Set up your events (or Set up with your team name). From the panel you can Dismiss setup before everything is done, or click Mark setup complete when every required step is finished.

Below 1280px wide, the left sidebar collapses into a hamburger menu on every page, including during setup. Open the menu to reach the same navigation destinations.

Create and publish your first event

Publishing—not saving a draft—completes the first setup outcome and unlocks brand and share.

  1. From the dashboard drawer (or Create event on the setup panel), start with Evie when it is available. First-run accounts can see persona cards, then Evie, then a read-only review step inside the drawer. If Evie is unavailable, the drawer shows the manual create path instead. You can also use the 4-step wizard or import events from a CSV file.

  2. Finish the event details, tickets, and registration fields. In the drawer, review uses Next to publish; edits round-trip back to drawer review.

  3. Publish the event. A draft alone does not complete Describe your event.

If you left an Evie draft, the panel can show Finish your event with helper Pick up where you left off and reopen drawer review.

What happens after first publish

Where you land depends on the publish path:

  • First-run single publish — Stays on the dashboard and opens the setup drawer on brand so you can sync or skip without a full-page handoff.

  • Bulk publish, CSV first publish, demo mode, or already-finished onboarding — Opens the standalone Set up your widget page (/setup) for the same brand and embed steps.

Before brand is applied, the preview label is Your widget — live. After brand sync it becomes Your widget — live from your brand.

Brand sync or skip

On brand, choose to pull brand from your site URL or keep the default look and go straight to the embed code. The rail eyebrow is Make it yours.

  • Heading when brand is still needed: Make it look like you

  • Body: Want it to look like you before it goes on your site? and Paste your site and we’ll pull your brand.

  • Buttons: Sync my brand, Reading your site… while loading, or Try again after a failure

  • Skip: I’m happy with the default look — take me to the embed code

If sync fails, you see We couldn't read that site. Try again, or keep the default look.

After a successful sync, confirm with Looks right (or Not your brand? Try a different URL). Normal match heading: This is your widget, matched to your brand. Guess-grade heading: This is your widget — our best guess at your brand. Preview labels: Your widget — live from your brand when branded, or Your widget — live before brand is applied.

Either path completes the brand setup outcome. Connecting Squarespace during setup returns you to the brand or share step you left. For deeper brand controls later, see Syncing your brand from Squarespace.

Put the widget on your site

After brand sync or skip, copy embed code or the public event link. Share with your audience completes when Eventually sees the widget live, when you copy embed code, or when you copy the public event link. Copied is not the same as live.

  1. Choose scope: Just this event or All my events.

  2. Click Copy embed code (it changes to Copied).

  3. Optional: under Or send the link:, click Copy link (it changes to Copied ✓).

  4. If you copied embed code, paste it on your Squarespace page and publish the page. See Embedding the calendar widget on Squarespace and Installing the calendar widget.

  5. After you copy, click Done — back to dashboard, or open Customize my widget.

Eventually still upgrades the completed share CTA to It's live ↗ when it sees the widget on your published site. Until then, a copied embed or link can check the step off while the panel still says it will confirm live detection. Previewing inside Eventually does not count as live. Connect checkout for paid tickets

Connecting Squarespace checkout is not required to create, publish, brand, or embed. An optional Connect your checkout card appears on the setup panel when a paid published event exists on a site that is not connected. Helper text: Attendees see “Sales open soon” until you do. CTA: Connect Squarespace.

Until checkout is connected:

  • Attendees see a disabled Sales open soon control for those paid tickets on the widget and hosted event page.

  • After first-run setup is no longer active, a site-wide banner can show Connect your checkout to start selling. Owners and admins can use Connect checkout; other members see the warning without the action. During active first-run setup, that banner stays hidden because setup already surfaces the connect prompt.

  • Free, RSVP, and external-registration events keep their normal registration paths.

Eventually does not charge per-ticket fees; payment processing fees still come from Squarespace Payments once checkout is connected. Full connection steps: Connect your Squarespace site. If buyers report sales blocked after you expected checkout to work, see Common checkout issues and solutions.

Finish setup

When every required step on the panel is done, click Mark setup complete. Eventually shows Welcome to Eventually! and removes the setup panel. Use Dismiss earlier if you want to hide setup before every step is finished.
