Verifying your email address
Verifying your email address confirms that you own it. Eventually emails you a verification link when you create your account, and again whenever you change your address.
Verify your address
Open the email with the subject Verify your email.
Click the verification button in that email.
The link verifies your address and signs you in, so you do not need to enter your password again. Verification links are good for 2 days and work once.
Request a new link
If your link expired or never arrived, request another from your account settings. Check your spam and promotions folders before retrying, since a repeat request delivers the same kind of message to the same address.
Eventually limits how often verification emails go out. If you request several in a row you will see: Too many requests. Please wait a few minutes before requesting another verification email. Wait a few minutes and try once more.
Verification and password resets
An unverified address changes what the Forgot password form sends. Instead of a reset link, you receive a verification email. Verify the address first, then request the password reset again. See Sign in and recover your account.
If you are signed in as someone else
Clicking a verification link while signed in to a different account shows: You're signed in as [email]. Sign out and click that link again to verify a different account.
Eventually refuses rather than switching accounts behind your back, and your link stays usable. Sign out, then open the link again.
