View sent emails and delivery status
Every attendee email an event sends is listed on the event page under Communications, in the Sent list, with who received each message and whether it arrived. Open a send to see the message and each recipient's delivery status, open an attendee's details to see the emails sent to that person, and turn on an alert that emails you when some guests do not receive a message.
The Sent list appears on your event pages once sent email history is enabled for your team.
Open the Sent list
Open an event in your dashboard and scroll to the Communications section in the right rail. The Sent list sits below the event's automated email configuration and shows the total number of sends.
Each row is one grouped send, newest first, and shows:
Title: the broadcast subject, or the email type for automated emails, such as Reminder, 1 day before.
Date: the day it sent, or a date range such as Sep 12 to Sep 27 when a grouped send spans several days.
Recipient count: for example, 2 recipients.
Delivery badge: Delivered, Sent, or 3 of 12 not delivered when any recipient failed.
Five sends show at first. Click Show all to reveal the rest. Any team member can view the list.
Open a send
Click a row in the Sent list to open the send drawer with delivery totals, the message copy, and a per-recipient delivery list.
The drawer shows three counts at the top: Recipients, Delivered, and Not delivered. Two tabs sit below them:
Email: the message as a selected recipient received it, with the subject line and the copy that person was sent.
Recipients: every recipient with their name, email address, delivery status, and a View their copy button. Recipients with failures are listed first.
A send with failures opens on the Recipients tab; a send with none opens on the Email tab. While delivery is still being confirmed, the drawer notes how many emails are still waiting on the recipients' mail servers to confirm they arrived.
Click View their copy on a recipient to switch to the Email tab and see their copy. Broadcast and other custom emails keep their full copy in the history, so you can read the message exactly as that person received it, with their merge tags filled in. Standard-layout emails, such as reminders and confirmations, show only the subject and an explanation instead, because the body is generated for each guest with their own ticket details and is not stored.
The history is read-only and does not offer a resend action. To send a ticket link again, see Resending a confirmation email.
Delivery statuses
Each recipient's email carries one of five statuses.
Status | What it means |
|---|---|
Sent | The email went out and delivery has not been confirmed yet. |
Delivered | The recipient's mail server confirmed the email arrived. |
Bounced | Delivery failed. The reason appears under the status. |
Spam complaint | The recipient marked the email as spam. |
Failed | A delivery failure that is not a bounce or spam complaint. |
Failure reasons
When a recipient's status is Bounced, Spam complaint, or Failed, the reason appears under the status. Reasons read like:
Bounced: the address doesn't exist
Bounced: the address isn't valid
Bounced: the mailbox is full or unavailable
Bounced: the email domain couldn't be found
Bounced: the recipient's mail server blocked it
Bounced: the recipient's mail server rejected the content
Bounced: the recipient's mail server flagged it
Bounced: the recipient's mail server refused it
Not sent: this address is turned off for email
Not sent: this address bounced before or marked an earlier email as spam
Not sent: the address isn't valid
Marked as spam by the recipient
See one attendee's emails
Open a guest's details from the Guests section of the event page to see the emails sent to that person. The Emails section lists each recorded email, newest first, with the email type and subject, the delivery status, the time of the latest status, and the failure reason when delivery failed. If the email went to an address that differs from the guest's current email, the row also shows the address it was actually sent to.
For the rest of what the drawer holds, see The attendee detail view.
Which emails appear in the history
The history records attendee-facing emails only: broadcasts, order and registration confirmations, ticket and ticket link emails, transfer and move confirmations, details requests and invites, the three reminder emails (1 week, 1 day, and 1 hour before), thank-you, cancellation, waitlist joined and waitlist offer, and waiver reminder emails.
Host notifications, test sends, previews, and other non-attendee mail are not recorded. Eventually's standard-layout emails, such as reminders and confirmations, keep only their subject in the history; the body is generated for each guest with their own ticket details. The history records delivery only, not opens or clicks.
Emails sent before this list existed weren't recorded.
Get alerted about undelivered email
Under Settings > Notifications, in the Events section, turn on Undelivered Emails to receive an alert when an email to your guests bounces or is marked as spam. For the full settings page, see Notification preferences.
The alert is on by default for each team member, and each member controls their own alert independently. You receive one digest per failed send, about 10 minutes after the first failure, listing up to 10 guests with their failure reasons. When more guests failed, the email points you to the event page. The digest includes a See who missed it button that opens the event, where you can check each guest's address in their details or reach them another way.
