How West Bethel Makerspace Runs Class Registration on Squarespace, Without Replatforming

West Bethel Makerspace is a makerspace and community tool library in rural Western Maine — built by a small group of neighbors to grow knowledge, capacity, and resilience where they live. Everyone involved has a full-time job. The makerspace is the passion project.

So every hour lost to admin is an hour stolen from the actual mission. And there's a lot of mission: fundraising, grant writing, building out the space, teaching, safety check-offs, tours, launching the tool library. The list keeps going.

They started on Squarespace because it was fast, and the whole team could pitch in. Smart call for a proof of concept. But the moment they sold their first classes, the gaps showed — and some of them weren't just annoying, they were destructive. Waitlists got deleted. Class dates ended up stranded in product descriptions on some listings and in variants on others. Guests were browsing the team's Google Calendar instead of the shop, flipping back and forth just to figure out what was even on sale.

They knew they needed to move. They also had no time to replatform — and every hour spent migrating is an hour not spent building the thing itself.

That's exactly where Eventually came in. No migration, no starting over. Just their classes, publishing cleanly on the site they already had, covering the cases Squarespace commerce couldn't.

"We've been looking to replatform and haven't been able to find something that fits our specification and our budget. Because of Eventually, we won't have to."

The admin burden lifted. It looks far better out of the box than the old setup ever did — a real shopping experience instead of a workaround. And their guests get one clean calendar instead of a scavenger hunt across two sites.

For a nonprofit running on borrowed hours, that's not a nice-to-have. It's time handed back to the work that actually matters.
