Set up your Primary Calendar Page
The Primary Calendar Page is a page on your Squarespace site that the Eventually extension fills with your primary calendar. Once you designate a page, your events calendar appears there as the page's content, and the rest of your site is unchanged. You create the page in Squarespace, then enter its address on the Calendars page in your Eventually dashboard. Only owners and admins can designate the page.
Before you start
You need three things before you designate a page:
The Eventually extension installed. Install it through the Squarespace extension flow in Install the Eventually Squarespace extension. Connecting your Squarespace site for checkout alone does not install the extension.
An owner or admin role. Only owners and admins can designate, change, or clear the Primary Calendar Page. Other team members can see the setup state and the saved page address but cannot change them. See Roles and permissions.
A Squarespace connection. The first checklist item confirms your site is connected. See Connect your Squarespace site.
Create the page in Squarespace
You create the page yourself in Squarespace. Eventually never creates or renames a Squarespace page; the extension only takes over a page you already made.
In Squarespace, create the page that will hold your calendar. An empty page works well.
Note the page's address, which is the part of the URL after your domain, such as
/events-calendar. You enter this path in Eventually.
Choose your primary calendar
The designated page always shows the calendar you marked as primary, so choose that calendar before you designate the page. In Calendars, open the calendar you want to use and select Set as primary calendar in the calendar editor. If you change the primary calendar later, the calendar shown on the designated page updates to match. Only owners and admins can change which calendar is primary.
Designate the page
The Primary Calendar Page row sits below the setup checklist on the Calendars page. You enter the page's address there and save.
Open the Calendars page in your Eventually dashboard.
Enter the page's address, the path after your domain, such as
/events-calendar. While the setup checklist is showing and no page is saved yet, the field sits in the checklist's Primary calendar page set item; otherwise it is in the Primary Calendar Page row.Click Save and put it on my site in the checklist, or Save in the row.
The field accepts a page path such as /events-calendar, and also a full URL on your connected site, which is normalized to the page path. A URL pointing to another site is rejected. You get a validation error for an invalid domain, unsupported characters, or a malformed address. Paths over 200 characters are rejected.
The extension takes over only the exact page you designate. It does not create or rename the Squarespace page, and pasted calendar embeds elsewhere on your site are unaffected.
Page check after you save
After you save the page address, Eventually checks that the page exists on your Squarespace site before treating your calendar as live. The extension being registered and the page being live are separate conditions: your calendar counts as live only when the extension is registered and the page check has passed. Only owners and admins can run the page check or provide the site password.
When the check does not pass, the setup step shows one of these states:
Page not found: the page does not exist at the address you saved. The step names the address it looked for and the URL slug the page needs. Create the page in Squarespace (Open Squarespace pages opens your page list), then click Check again.
The site is password-protected: the setup step asks for the Squarespace site password. Enter the Squarespace site password and click Check page. If the password is wrong, the step tells you separately; re-enter the password and check again.
The site cannot be reached: click Check again to retry.
Every state also offers Done for now, so you can leave the step and come back to it later.
Read the setup checklist
If you already finished onboarding on the dashboard, the Calendars page shows a six-item checklist for getting your calendar onto your site. The items are:
Squarespace connected: your Squarespace site is linked to Eventually.
Your store page is set up: your Squarespace store is ready for checkout.
Primary calendar chosen: you picked the calendar the page will show.
Primary calendar page set: you saved the page address in the Primary Calendar Page row.
Extension live on your site: the extension is registered and running.
Your events are live at your page address (for example,
/events-calendar).
If you installed the extension as a first-run seller, you complete this setup from the dashboard setup drawer instead: the calendar step in that drawer shows the calendar preview and the page setup screen, with a page address field that defaults to events. The checklist remains the path for sellers who already completed onboarding. See Finish setup on your dashboard.
Status states and what to do
The Primary Calendar Page status shows one of four states:
Live: the extension is registered and your calendar is showing on the designated page. Nothing to do.
No page yet: no page address is saved yet. Enter your page's address in the Primary Calendar Page row and save it.
Going live: a change is still registering or the page is still being verified. Wait briefly and check again.
Not updated: the extension registration is blocked until Squarespace is reconnected. Reconnect your Squarespace site and try again. See Fix Squarespace connection and sync issues.
Change, clear, or open the page
You can update the designation at any time from the same row on the Calendars page.
Open the Calendars page.
In the Primary Calendar Page row, enter a new page address to change the designation, or clear the saved address to remove it.
Click Go to page to open the designated page on your site and check the result.
Changing the page address or clearing it updates the extension registration. Changes do not apply instantly, so if the page does not reflect the update right away, wait briefly and check again.
What happens on the designated page
On the designated page, your primary calendar appears as the page's content, and the calendar launcher is hidden there. Visitors see the calendar in the page flow, not as a floating overlay.
Page matching is exact to the page path:
Query strings and hash fragments do not affect matching, so a visit to the designated page with a query string or hash still shows the calendar.
Child paths under the designated page do not match it, so the extension leaves them alone.
Everything else stays as it is: other pages of your site are unchanged, and any calendar embeds you pasted manually keep working on the pages where you placed them. Pasted embeds and the extension are separate ways to show your calendar; there is no mode toggle between them. See Embedding the calendar widget on Squarespace for the pasted-embed approach, and Installing the calendar widget for how pasted widgets work.
Disconnecting and deleting a calendar
Two situations change the extension behind the scenes, and both are handled for you:
Disconnect and reconnect: your page designation survives. Reconnect your Squarespace site and the designated page keeps pointing at your primary calendar.
Delete the designated calendar: Eventually re-registers the extension, so the page does not keep pointing at a calendar that no longer exists.
