How Groundless Runs Tiered Tickets, Donations & Classes on One Squarespace Calendar

Groundless is a modern refuge in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone: gatherings, workshops, meditations, classes, art, and music, in person and online. It's also where Dr. Diana Hill hosts her Tell the Truth series. A place like this lives or dies on how easily people can find something and show up for it.

Groundless needed range. A meditation group that meets most Tuesday mornings. Pay-what-you-want tickets across tiers, from free to contributor to supporter to benefactor. Recurring donations from people who simply want to give. Classes layered on top. The old setup was a workaround stitched together from tools that were never meant to do this, and it showed.

Designer Christopher Simmons rebuilt Groundless on Squarespace with Eventually underneath. He'd been down this road before: searching forums, trying third-party tools, hitting the same wall every time, a tool that does most of what you need while the missing part actively fights you. What he shipped looks native, and it runs through one checkout instead of the two-cart maze every other option forced on him.

"I haven't seen a product as full featured as this, as resolved as this in like forever."

That's a designer talking, someone who has tried the alternatives and knows where they break. What sold him was the fit: full control over how it looks, one checkout for free and paid alike, and the repetitive work handled so his client can maintain it without a developer on call.

Squarespace is excellent at what it's built for. Events are their own specialized layer, and Eventually is that layer underneath Groundless. The best infrastructure disappears, and what's left is the gathering.
